How do I define a non-comp number with an imbedded sign PIC S9(9)V99 with and ending length of 11.

I don't know how to do this. This is not a COMP-3 field. I'm needing to match the file layout the government gave me.

All of their amount fields are defined this way. The internet says I need to use USAGE IS DISPLAY.

When I look at the field afterwards it is still 12 characters including a sign.

Is there something I need to install?

Or, a switch I need to set?

Mike, use the SIGN IS TRAILING/LEADING COMBINED clause.  Pick leading or trailing according tothe spec.
