I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this, but for the record ...My understanding is that Microsoft allows different versions of Visual Studio (for example VS 2013 and VS 2019) to coexist "side-by-side" on the same development PC.  And even different versions of .Net to coexist on the same server.My question(s):1) Does Micro Focus allow different versions of Visual COBOL to coexist on the same development PC?2) And different versions of COBOL Server to coexist on the same hardware server or same virtual server?Thanks 

Hi, I tried AcuToWeb 10.1 a couple of years ago and had several problems that couldn't be resolved.  I just recently tried version 10.2 and was very impressed with the progress.  The scroll bars now show up where they are needed and the visual aspects are nearly identical to the thin client.  However, I'm still having two problems. The first is that, at the bottom of many of our screens, is a Status-Bar element.  When the information in it is updated, it works fine.  But whenever the vertical scroll bar is used, the Status-Bar element immediately disappears (or vertically shrinks to a horizontal line; I can't tell for sure if it's there or if there's just a rendering artifact). The second is that we open a second screen (in the thin client it is a new window) to display our help information.  In AcuToWeb, this new screen is completely blank.  I've tried using the debugger and it looks like it's trying to add the text to the window, but nothing is disp

I spend three days trying to solve this last week and was unsuccessful. I currently have a Windows Form text box in which the user types the numbers 123456789. I want to move that data into a numeric field with the value of: 1234567.89 where the last two numbers are to be placed to the right of the decimal point. I posed a similar question a few months back but I did not get the responds that I was looking. Is there a way to implement a timeout feature in WinForm? What I am trying to accomplish is to display a form for about 5 seconds and then have the form close by itself without user intervention so that it may continue running the program. I'm using COBOL via Visual COBOL 2013 4.0 to access a MySQL Community 8.0 database. MySQL for Visual Studio 1.2.8, using OpenESQL to connect, Managed COBOL.The core of my database is a 3-record hierarchy, joined by indexes, the bottom table of which holds variable-length line data, defined as TEXT. My maximum text line is 7060 bytes. I have an application that processes lines of any length perfectly happily through this structure, generating a converted output that clearly 'sees' and processes every byte in every row. Hello, can you help me with the following problem? We have an old client / server application using C / S Binding technology (client=Windows, server=linux or windows). We use Net Express and Server Express for development. Now we want to migrate to the Visual Cobol 5.0.What tools do you recommend? Is Visual Cobol Development Hub 5.0  a standalone product or I need to have a Visual Cobol 5.0 for Visual Studio 2017 or for Eclips? Is C/S Binding technology a part of mentioned products? Answer There are some general points to make about using the brave scripts. The full list of bj scripts that can be used are documented in the ‘Using Batch Scripts’ help topic. The scripts can be found in the <CA Install directory>\\Scripts\\BRP directory. Ensure that all parameters that are passed to the brave match the documentation as in upper, lower or mixed case as seen within the docs as all of the scripts are case sensitive. Ensure that you enclose all parameters with double quotes, as spaces will terminate a parameter. This becomes important when passing a spacey name as a parameter. Problem When running a Cobol Analyzer (CA), error 2753 (screenshot below) is reported during the running of the EA module rescan. This means that the Hot Fix is not installed on the machine. Resolution In the support line downloads section of the Micro Focus site, it states that the CA Hot Fixes are full installs. What this means is that they use the normal install method when the Hot Fix executable is run. It does not mean that they contain the full product plus the Hot Fix. The Hot Fix requires that the relevant CA product is already installed on the machine before the Hot Fix can be applied. The error reported is that the rescan.exe which is part of the CA product, but not included in the Hot Fix cannot be found on the machine. To resolve this, install the relevant base CA product, which can also be downloaded from the support line site and then reapply the Hot Fix. SI # 3193161

Problem After applying Windows security updates Cobol Analyzer (CA) Administrator GUI and the main Cobol Analyzer GUI will not start. Resolution It has been found that applying anyone of the following list of Windows updates, on the relevant of Windows environment stops applications written in Visual Basic v6 from running. The Administrator tool is always installed. To remove the Administration Tool, delete "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Micro Focus\\Enterprise Analyzer\\Bin\\RescueAdmin.exe" . Is there a way to exit a form and continue with the program without closing the form? It seems that the only way to continue with my program is to close the form. I get twice a day an utf-8 fileI try to convert it with: move function display-of (function national-of (input), 1252) to outputBut the output looks like the intput.Does somebody know a solution.  

Installed Visual COBOL for Visual Studio 2019 on Windows Server 2012. I have created a project and loaded my COBOL program which has PROCEDURE DIVISION USING parameters. These parameters were declared in Linkage Section. I have set the Configuration as "Release" and Platform as "x64". I want to generate a 64-bit dll which will be accessed by Smalltalk application in 64-bit environment. We had a 32-bit dll from same COBOL program which is working fine with 32-bit Smalltalk application. Could someone help?Regards,Rahul KK

Using the 2019 versions of the above, I have a problem. I have a project (MAIN program calling several SUB progs (.dlls)). Last week it was working as designed.Today 2 things are happening. If I Start without Debugging the program completely ignores MAIN prog and the required SUB.dll and runs another .dll (which is just a stub since not yet completely programmed.)If I set a breakpoint in MAIN prog at the initial PERFORM (i.e. to select which function is required) the program stops correctly. When I hit F11 to step through the program freezes and I have to use Task Manager to exit VC/VS.I have made no changes to the application so I cannot understand why this is happening. Problem:From within a Windows Forms  application, when a button is clicked the program would disable the button and then perform the task associated with the button from within the button  Click event handler. If this is a long-running task then the UI thread can become unresponsive and start queuing events, even for those such as a mouse click on the disabled button. When the button is enabled again the queued events would be run and the event handler code would be invoked again in error. Solution: This demo shows one possible method of avoiding this scenario by executing a long-running task by creating a BackgroundWorker thread and running the task separately from the main UI thread. In this manner the UI thread is free to keep processing events and the BackgroundWorker thread can report its progress and also be canceled if need be.                      The zipped up Vi

What is the command to detect if the key that was pressed was numeric (e.g. 0 – 9) on a Windows Form? Or conversely, if the key that was pressed was NOT numeric? In C# the command is something like:if (!char.IsControl(e.KeyChar) && !char.IsDigit(e.KeyChar)

I uninstalled my PE 4.0 via the Control panel.When I execute VCE_50.exe it immediately gives me an error:0x81f40001 Visual Cobol 2.3 must be uninstalled before V5 can be installed. I haven't had 2.3 in years. Please provide assistance. Thank you,Warren Mundy
