If I’m attempting to launch the mobius document direct 4.4 for windows(DDW) client or administrative tools directly on the server to view or download reports through windows task scheduler, will I need a interactive desktop session ?

Hi Bala2900,

Thank you for your question. DocumentDirect (DDR) for Windows 4.4 is a legacy product and is no longer supported, so any continued use/advise/discussion should be treated as legacy / best-effort rather than a currently supported deployment model.
Rocket’s current direction is to move customers to Mobius View/ContentEdge, which is the modern replacement for older viewing clients.

With regard to Windows Task Scheduler, if the goal is to launch the DDR client or administrative tools to view or download reports, an interactive desktop session is typically required.
Microsoft documents that tasks using an interactive logon type run only in an existing interactive session, and Task Scheduler behavior for “Run only when user is logged on” is the mode that allows desktop interaction. By contrast, tasks configured to run “whether the user is logged on or not” do not provide normal desktop interaction for GUI applications.

As a result, if DDR 4.4 must still be used, the practical requirement is to run it in a logged-in user session rather than as a fully unattended background task. If the need is for scheduled, unattended report retrieval or extraction, the more sustainable approach would be to evaluate newer ContentEdge capabilities designed for that model rather than relying on a legacy Windows fat client.

Thanks,
Russell
