Problem:
- Product Name: VisiBroker
- Product Version: 8.5
- Platform/OS version: AIX 7
Does any VisiBroker version supports AIX 7?
Resolution:
IBM has declared AIX 7 to be backward compatible with AIX 6 and AIX 5.3. This is stated in the link:
http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/power/software/aix/compatibility/index.html
“The new POWER7 servers run AIX 7, AIX 6 and AIX V5.3 — all with binary compatibility for applications currently running on AIX 6 and AIX 5L — and AIX 7 will even run on older servers based on POWER5™ and POWER4™ processors. This broad support for multiple levels of the AIX operating system on multiple generations of POWER systems is the strongest ever.”
The latest VisiBroker version (8.5) is certified over AIX 6.1. With the statement above, VisiBroker applications built on AIX 6 can be deployed in AIX 7 in backward compatibility mode. If a customer encounters an issue in AIX 7, Micro Focus will fix it in AIX 6.1 and they can deploy it in compatibility mode.
