Although not a recommended practice, there may be rare circumstances where it is necessary to run a server as the "root" account under Unix. This article provides instructions to install and run "ias" as the "root" account under Unix.

Resolution:

The following properties files contain properties named "server.user" and "server.group", which should be commented out when launching "ias" as "root".

{bes_install_root}/var/servers/{server_name}/adm/properties/server.properties

{bes_installl_root}/var/servers/{server_name}/adm/properties/partitions/{partition_name}/server.properties

We does not recommend running the server as "root".
