As Sun JDK 1.4.1 has reached its End-Of-Life, Borland recommends customers with BES 5.2.1 (bundled with Sun JDK 1.4.1) to upgrade the JDK to Sun JDK 1.4.2 at least. Here are the steps to upgrade the bundled Sun JDK to 1.4.2.

Resolution:

1. Download and install JDK1.4.2 to <BES-install>/jdk/JDK1.4.2 folder.

2. Edit <BES-install>/bin/toolsjdk.config and change "javahome $var(installRoot)/jdk/jdk1.4.1" to "javahome $var(installRoot)/jdk/jdk1.4.2".

3. Edit <BES-install>/bin/appclient.config and change "javahome $var(installRoot)/jdk/jdk1.4.1" to "javahome $var(installRoot)/jdk/jdk1.4.2".

4. Edit <BES-install>/var/servers/adm/properties/partitions/<partition-name>/partition_server.config and change "javahome $var(installRoot)/jdk/jdk1.4.1" to "javahome $var(installRoot)/jdk/jdk1.4.2".

(Repeat step 4 for each partition you may have)

5. Now, the BES infrastructure uses JDK 1.4.2 (including ias process, tools such as console,iastool and DDEditor, and partition).
