Problem:

Since Java is platform-independent, can a VisiBroker for Java application built on a Sparc machine be deployed on a x86 machine or vice versa?

Resolution:

Java applications can be deployed on a machine different from the one it is built in only if the installed VisiBroker versions of both machines, including the service packs (SP), are the same. If the application is built on a Sparc machine with VisiBroker 8.0 SP3 and deployed on x86 machine with VisiBroker 8.0 SP3, or vice versa, there will be no issue.
 
But if it is built on a Sparc with VisiBroker 8.0 SP3 and deployed on x86 with VisiBroker 8.0 SP2, or vice versa, it is possible that an issue may occur because there may be inconsistencies between the bundled libraries of SP3 and SP2.
