Problem:
- Product Name: VisiBroker
- Product Version: 5.x
- Product Component: C
- Platform/OS Version: HP-UX aCC compiler
- According to the aCC documents, modules compiled without -AA and modules with -AA are incompatible. It seems that VBC modules are compiled without -AA option. Is that correct?
- Is there a way using BES 502 VisiBroker for HP-UX with -AA option (Using aCC standard library 2.0)?
- Do we have BES 521 for HP-UX (32-bit and 64-bit) for -AA option?
- Do we need another build version to use with -AA option with BES 51 or just use the product downloaded from support.borland.com?
- What about the patches? Are all the patches applicable to the product for HP-UX for -AA option?
Resolution:
- The version of the 2.0 Standard C library (libstd_v2) included in this release is incompatible with the previous versions of the same library. Using the -AA option and the new 2.0 library creates a binary incompatibility with any other applications/libraries compiled with the -AA option under the previous version of the aC product.
- There is a special port for the HP-UX platform for this issue. Please contact customer support for this special build (vbe501c108_opt_hp11_AA.tar).
- The -AA option is available only with the VisiBroker 5.1. The option was added because of VisiBroker 5.2 was at the end of its development cycle just before it is release in January and this was a special request for delivery last November. The -AA option will be included in the BES 6.0 release scheduled for Q3. So this is not supported for BES 521.
- You will need a specific build of BES 5.1 using -AA option, you can obtain this from the EBU. This build is currently not on the web site, you can make a request and we would ship it from here.
- No, the support for the -AA option has to be treated as a port to another platform because of the binary differences in the libraries.
