Hi
We have a corba server environment in Orbix Iona 6.3 where in a replicated installation of MASTer and Slave deployment is done.
Currently we have a situation in client side ,where we had some restrictions in opening all ports. In standalone mode(non replica) we were able to
restrict the ports in server side by setting the variable policies:iiop:server_address_mode_policy:port_range.
So I would like to know two thing with respect to our current scenario, do we need to set separate port ranges for respective replicas or can we set same port ranges for both MASTER and slave.
Thanks for your support.
#OrbixHi,
You do not need to set separate port ranges for replicas. However, if the replicas are running on the same machine, you will need to ensure the port range is wide enough for all replicas. Please note, it is not advisable to run replicas on the same machine.
Alternatively, you can specify different port ranges for different replicas, in the usual way.
For more information on replicated servers and services, please see the section entitled "Configuring Scalable Applications" in our Orbix Administrator's Guide (Linked below).
Thank you and best regards,
Pat
