General FAQ on VisiTransact 6.0
Resolution:
1. Does VisiTransact contains complete transaction management features? Can its C part support XA or two phase commit ?
VisiTransact contains the essential transaction management features. Yes, its C part do support XA and 2-phase commit features.
2. Does VisiTransact provide any session manager for those XA resources? Or does it provide any examples of how to write a session manager of a specific database such as Oracle 9i?
Yes, VisiTransact do provide session manager for those XA resources. It also provides examples of how to write a session manager such as Oracle 9i, but it is only available in Solaris platform and not other platforms such as Windows or Linux. We have only this port in Solaris where the sessionmgr example is installed on this Solaris platform. The examples is installed - see /examples/vbe/its/sessionmgr/quickstart_ora9i or /examples/vbroker/its/sessionmgr/quickstart_ora9i on VisiBroker 7.0 & later versions.
3. Is there any difference between a VisiTransact installation and a VisiBroker Edition installation? I just installed VisiTransact using an ordered CD, but I found it is almost the same as a normal VisiBroker Edition.
There is no difference between a VisiTransact installation or VisiBroker Edition installation. By right, Visibroker Edition installation comes with the Visitransact part when you install this copy. You need to purchase separate license keys which we call "Service license keys" for using VisiTransact service. Visibroker Edition core keys cannot be used for services like VisiTransact, VisiNotify and VisiSecure services.
