What are the licensing policies used for VisiBroker and AppServer products for Virtual machine environments?
Resolution:
We license the Borland solutions App Server and VisiBroker according to the physical host server configuration in the deployed environment (including QA/Test).
Based on this, customers would need to license all test, production and HA/DR systems per CPU/Core of the physical server hosting the virtual environment.
If Borland solutions will be running in an ESX VMware Server, then all of the physical host servers that will run the Borland solutions will need to be licensed on a CPU-core basis.
For example, if Borland will run on 2 test systems (each having 2 dual core CPUs), then you would need 2 Dual Core-CPU licenses or CPU licenses that equate to 4 total CPU-Cores.
Our license model is focused on the physical frame of the VM host server and the CPU-cores there within.
