Cross memory communication is integrated into the z/OS operating system.

Before using cross memory communication as the transport mechanism between IMS and the client adapter, the following prerequisites must be met:

• The client adapter must be run APF-authorized
• The client adapter must run in a non-swappable address space
• After the client adapter is stopped, its address space ID becomes unavailable until the next IPL
• IMS and the client adapter must be running on the same LPAR
• Two-phase commit processing is not supported when using the cross memory communication transport

For further information, please see the IMS and CICS Orbix Mainframe Adapters' Administrator’s Guides, which can be found on our Orbix Mainframe documentation page.
