  1. Background application traffic is running, which consists all types of traffic.
  2. We use CORBA interface for communication between 2 components in SDP.
  3. We executed the tests to very “Ensure host based firewall loopback traffic is configured”. For this we executed the attached script, “loopback.sh” along with traffic ongoing. Once the script is executed, we observed failures messages in between the components. Logs attached “TH_Logs”. But failures are observed only at the time when this script is executed, after that the connections are established towards CORBA. This script disallows any traffic which involves only one of the source or destination to be the localhost.
  4. We decoded the IOR files attached for the 2 components and captured TCPDUMP to analyse the network traffic running on local host.
  5. It is found that there is no GIOP request captured, running on localhost.

So we want to know that if there is no CORBA traffic running on localhost, then how does communication getting failed after executing the above mentioned script “loopback.sh”.

If required we can setup a call for the same.

Hi Abhishek,

Local iiop traffic is handled differently than traffic which traverses a network adapter. Each operating system can handle local or loopback traffic slightly differently. There is nothing wrong with a tcpdump that shows no iiop/giop packets if the connection is a loopback or local connection as it will go through the os internal calls for handling local (same machine) connection.
