Getting segmentation fault when trying to run any VisiBroker command like idl2java.
Resolution:
RedHat Linux 4.0 OS ships with IBM JVM 1.4.2 which should be used instead of the Oracle JDK 1.4.2_05 provided with the VisiBroker 6.5 installation.
The error occurs because by default the JVM used by VisiBroker is the one that is shipped with the product installation. The VisiBroker installation was shipped with Oracle JDK 1.4.2_05, which was not compatible with RedHat Linux 4.0. Hence the segmentation fault is seen when using the JDK shipped with the installation.
The platform support page for VisiBroker 6.5 indicates that it has been tested with IBM JVM 1.4.2 and not with Oracle JDK.
