Resolution  These are instructions are general guidelines when changing hostname/IP of machines hosting Orbix3.3.x. Additional steps might be needed for each environment, depending on its use of the product.

Generally, the following changes are needed:

  • For Orbix daemon: no change is need.
  • For Name Service:
    • Change the value of IT_NAMES_SERVER_HOST to the new hostname
    • All the object references inside the naming service will become un-usable. The IOR inside the naming service are unique identifiers that contain the hostname. All servers that publish their object IORs in the naming service will need to re-publish them after the migration.
    • If file IORs are used, rather than naming service, they need to be re-generated by the servers hosting these objects.
