Problem:

  • Product Name: BES AppServer
  • Product version: 6.5 and later
  • Product Component: Installation
  • Platform/OS version: All Unix/Linux

How to manage the ownership of the BES 6.5 installation files after a product installed. I know in the BES 5.x version Borland used to supply a "iaschangeowner" script, which can be used to manage the ownership of the installation after a product installed. Is there a similar script available in the BES 6.5 version?

Resolution:

Yes, Borland still provides the scripts to manage the ownership of the installation. But from BES 6.5 version onwards the "setuser" tool replaces the functionality provided by the "iaschangeowner" script. See BES 6.5 Release Notes. This new tool in 6.5 version provides more functionality then the "iaschangeowner" script. This tool is available under "BES65/etc/utils/" directory.

For more information about this tool please refer BES 6.5 Installation Guide.
