MVS Toolkit versions 2.2.3.121 and earlier required activation. We no longer have the ability to activate those versions. If you are running an older version, we highly recommend that you upgrade. If you decide to continue to run on the older version, at least make sure you have a current Web Service Export just in case your Toolkit installation breaks and you are forced to upgrade. A Web Service export is much like a Pick file-save: Hopefully you never need it, but if you do, you'll be glad you have it!

Upgrading the MVS Toolkit has more benefit that just removing the need for activation. The older Toolkit versions use Jetty and Java versions that have been deprecated because of security issues.

No cost for the Toolkit itself, and I am running 2.3.3a on CentOS 7.9 against D3 Linux 10.2.

The Toolkit will consume normal D3 user licenses, logging on and off with each request, which is not particularly fast. D3 has a "Connection Pool" license that can be added to your system ID. This allows the Toolkit to connect and stay connected, which is MUCH faster and protects the normal user license pool from getting maxed out by too many Toolkit requests. The Connection Pool licenses are about 4 times the cost of a normal user license, but in my opinion, WELL worth the cost.
