We would like to provide an update on our D3 product strategy and upcoming releases.
On November 12, 2024 Rocket MV announced a D3 10.3 Version Support policy , which included the following guidance:
“With the release of D3 10.4, many customers have inquired about the future of D3 10.3 and earlier versions. To allow the D3 development team to focus on D3 10.4, the current generally available version of D3, we will continue to support D3 10.3 and earlier versions according to the product lifecycle. However, we will not be enhancing these versions. Additionally, we will limit hotfixes to severity 1 issues. We'll address all other fixes in version 10.4, meaning customers will need to upgrade to 10.4 to take advantage of these updates.”
Since then, we have continued to listen to customer feedback and evaluate upgrade experiences across our customer base, particularly within Linux environments.
As a result, we are pleased to announce that Rocket has begun development of D3 10.3.5 for Linux. This release will carry General Availability (GA) status and will provide Linux customers with an additional supported path through the end of 2030.
In addition to a roll-up of fixes introduced since D3 10.3.4, D3 10.3.5 will also include Linux 10 compatibility certification.
Why We're Making This Change
We recognize that some Linux customers face additional considerations when planning an upgrade to D3 10.4 due to architectural changes introduced in the platform. By introducing D3 10.3.5, we aim to provide greater flexibility and more upgrade options while we continue to strengthen and enhance the D3 10.4.x release stream.
This approach will:
- Provide Linux customers with a supported, GA version of 10.3 that extends through 2030.
- Offer an additional upgrade path without requiring an immediate move to D3 10.4.x.
- Allow us to continue maturing and enhancing the D3 10.4.x platform.
- Provide greater flexibility in planning future D3 upgrades, whether upgrading to v10.4.x or migrating to UniVerse or jBASE.
Release Planning
- D3 10.3.5 will be available for Linux only. We are not planning a D3 10.3.5 release for Windows. The release date is slated for the week of September 14th.
- D3 10.4.0 remains a fully supported and recommended upgrade path for Windows customers.
- D3 10.4.1 is planned for both Windows and Linux and is expected to be released later this year following the availability of D3 10.3.5.
We remain excited to deliver D3 10.4.1 and look forward to making it available as soon as possible.
