I read through the documentation and compared it to what I am seeing on the system.

There is a DEVICES record called OKIDATA.  This has control character definitions and such.

In the USER-COLD-START, there is a STARTPTR 0, 0, 0, S13 & STARTPTR 1, 1, 0, S10 and other for the rest.

There is also an ASSIGNFQ 1,OKIDATA (C

If I do LISTPTR I have several printers, 0, 1, 2, 6 and 7 and all say serial and DEV or PROCESS # is 13, 10, 11, 14 and 9.

On the server itself, the OKIDATA printer name is OKI-C711-DCA9AC.

How is the OKI-C711-DCA9AC assign to the OKIDATA?  I am thinking it is something to do with a configuration somewhere for the Dev or Process, but not sure what.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The DEVICES item is only to map printer behavior, like compressed vs. normal, bold vs. normal, paging, blah blah blah. It was probably named OKIDATA to make it easier to associate to the printer, but the devices item could have been called anything.

ok, understood, so for example, STARTPTR 1, 1, 0, S10 assigns the printer on serial port 10 to printer 1.  How is the actual OKI-C711-DCA9AC assigned to S10?  They have some other printers and I would like to assign them.

Using the dev-make command, which is probably in your cold start procedure. Find the one for the OKI-C711-DCA9AC printer, change the printer name (including the path if there) and the D3 PIB # (after the S).

Mvbase workstation admin utility printers tab provides the link between serial line numbers and Windows printers. Windows printers need to be installed and capable of printing a test page. Then it is a case of setting up an mvbase printer name and linking the Windows printer to the appropriate line number defined in the STARTPTR command. We normally use the Raw print processor which also needs to be defined.

Best regards

Phil
