Hi Brian,

When that is done, no items are returned at all... the  reason being that the value returned from A8, in that instance, is not a valid date "Dec-2012" ...

FWIW, the SS connective used in context would look similar to this: LIST fn WITH some.selector = "xxxyyyzzz" BY some.sortfield break-on some.sortfield SS start.date end.date SUMMARY.ATTRIBUTE det-supp ...

Best regards and keep safe,

Hi Brian and Walter,

Thanks for your assistance.

What you suggest does not work for the following reasons:

  1. The SS connective requires a date range much like a "WITH" connective, but spec'd as this 'SS  MONTH "01/01/2020" "31/12/2020" ...'. As such the A8 dictionary item has to return a valid date.
  2. IF A8 is left blank, what is returned to SS is the complex ID which the date is just a part of it and thus the query returns "No items..."
  3. Similarly, If A7 is transferred to A8, the returned result is not a valid date....

So that I am in a catch 22 situation.

FWIW, if I just do a DMA]T1,3 in A7 it works just fine, but I want the Month and Year concatenated...

Best regards and keep safe,

Vincent,

Have you tried calling a basic program from attr 8 in the dict item?  I use that feature regularly & find it extremely useful.

Hy,

why you dont create a dict with a validade date (Dictionary-Code S) just for the selection and use your dict with  Month-Year to display ?

Hi Alberto,

The only dictionary item allowed is that provided immediately after the SS connective...that dictionary item is also used for the column headings of the resulting spreadsheet.

Thanks for your help.
