WARN: D3 Window 10.4.0 -> 10.4.1 update failure

I opened case 01108919 for the subject.

In few words: fresh installa works, update not.

Cause:  a lot of files are not updated.

Hi Stefano. I saw the case, am looking now, testing on my boxes, but I believe this may be a known issue. 10.4.0.1 is essentially a hot fix, not a full-blown release, provided to address a lot of 10.4.0 issues. I believe that when 10.4.1 comes out it will be able to upgrade 10.4.0, but not sure about earlier versions. I'll check.

I have found that the best way to "upgrade" 10.4.0 to 10.4.0.1 (and maybe even 10.3.4), is to do a "standard" uninstall of 10.4.0 which leaves all your data and registry entries in place, then install 10.4.0.1. I'll try that here and update you.

Well, I'm testing now, and in my first pass, even the standard uninstall did not work. Still testing, maybe I did something wrong. I'll keep you posted.

I'm posting this here instead of the case so that none of folks out there try the 10.4.0-10.4.0.1-standard-uninstall thing before I verify that it works.
