Rocket DevOps, MX, API, iCluster® – Solutions for IBM i™

So you've got the new Rocket DevOps and you really like using it, but, let's face it, sometimes you forget where you stored that bookmark to get to the URL. Did you know that you can hot link to it right from the comfort of your LMi Main Menu? Some time ago, we added Option 15 "Report Manager" to the main menu. This is basically just a URL that you can click on to launch in your default browser. The sneaky bit is that we don't care what URL you put in there, we'll launch whatever you give us. So, why not put the link to your RDOp in there. To be fair, that's where Report Manager is anyway, right, so it's not really cheating. :)Here is a sample of how you set the data area:CHGDTAARA DTAARA(ACMSCTL/ACMSRMURL *ALL) VALUE('http://SYSTEMA:8890/page/login')If you kept the default port of 8890, you will probably just need to replace "SYSTEMA" with the name of the IBM i where you've hosted LMi. Now when you take Option 15: Report Manager, from the LMi Main Menu, you will see something like thi

I'm thrilled to announce the first release of a brand-new Rocket product – Rocket DevOps test. Not only is this a new Rocket product, but it's also a completely new IBM i product! Rocket DevOps test (RDOt) is the second new IBM i product that we've launched this year and follows in the footsteps of Rocket DevOps portal (RDOp). Both are core components designed to support the evolution of Rocket DevOps - formerly known as Aldon – and demonstrate our commitment to the IBM i community. Rocket DevOps test offers integrated testing functions built right into the RDOp platform, and includes automated unit, integration, and regression testing capabilities. The key features for this release are: Create, edit, view, report test cases Extract & anonymise test data from production systems Record and playback interactive sessions Submit & monitor batch jobs Execute and monitor remote commands on IBM i, Windows, and Linux systems  You need to be on the latest versions of LMi (8.6) and/or

I am starting to use the GoAnywhere RUNPROJECT command in a CLLE.  When I try to compile within the tool formerly know as Aldon, I get a compile error as the command is not in the standard library list.  I cannot use a qualified call for RUNPROJECT because the command is not in the same library on the development and production systems, GACLIENT vs GOANYWHERE.  How do I get around an object, in this case a command, not being in the standard libraries. No, I cannot simply move the commands to QGPL. ;)------------------------------David TaylorSenior DeveloperRange Resources CorporationFort Worth TX US------------------------------

Did you know that LMi 8.6 can help you to reduce the downtime associated with making structural changes to database files by up to 99%? Changes that required over 9 hours of downtime required less than 4 minutes in our recent testing. Please read my announcement on the forum for details. ------------------------------Chris White Principal Product ManagerRocket Software------------------------------

With the release of Rocket DevOps Portal v10.1.1, we've provided updated api support for external application calls to Rocket LMe and LMi.Our updated v2.1 Rocket LM plugin for Jenkins takes advantage of the api updates with these enhancements and updated gui options: * Full build support for all environments via new SCM options to pull non-resident parts* Support for customizing "ald command parameters" for get, copy and import* Provide path wildcard support for ald import target (artifact) directoryWe can manage just the build artifacts (with source for build from git, svn, etc...) and deploy them or can use LMe repository to manage source. To show a quick overview of the basic functionality, for existing LMe users, we can use our AldonDemo application contents.  Here's a quick demo (attached) showing the use of a new LMe Build release to perform a pull of INV environment source, build with ant and then import the build artifacts into LMe for deployment to a server. We'd love to hear fr

I have a CL program that is used to change the DDM/DRDA user password for iCluster replication processes. I generate a random 25 character password and then use that variable to update the password on the production system, which will replicate over to the target system. I also need to change the server authentication entry, and if the program is run on system A, the CHGSVRAUTE command needs to be run on the target. I tried the following, but it didn't work... DMSYNCCMD CMD(CHGSVRAUTE USRPRF(user_profile) SERVER(QDDMDRDASERVER) USERID(user_profile) PASSWORD(&PWD25)) GROUP(SYSTEM)When the &PWD25 variable gets expanded, it gets surrounded by single quotes, and generates the error CPD0020 error...Character 'S' not valid following string '' DMSYNCCM'. (S is the first character of the generated password.) I updated my CL to construct the entire command into a variable...CHGVAR VAR(&RMTCMD) VALUE('CHGSVRAUTE USRPRF(user_profile) SERVER(QDDMDRDASERVER) USERID(user_profile) PASSWO

I found the clean up document that tells me to clean up *CRTNONRES objects manually.  We have not done it for a long time, maybe never.  Has anyone found a submitted way to do this?  For example, delete from I all *CRTNONRES objects with a create date older than 90 days. I can dig through the screens and find the files to create the SQL to feed to program to delete the objects, but why reinvent the wheel.------------------------------David TaylorSenior DeveloperRange Resources CorporationFort Worth TX US------------------------------

So you are using OAuth and perhaps also an identity provider for authorization and authentication, and you are using services that need authentication through this OAuth2 token. How to set this up with Rocket MX Web?This example shows how an OAuth2 token can be used to collect user information from the APIs from Keycloak. Keycloak is a tool that can be configured as identity provider (OpenID) as well as OAuth2 server. The examples given are indicative as the actual code can differ based on the OAuth2 server and/or Identity provider used, and it's configuration. To start, either in index.htlm or in the index.jsp the code for the client of your OAuth2 server needs to be included. In this example this is keycloak.js and is obtained directly from the authorization and authentication server in use (a local Keycloak instance on port 8080): In this example we initiate the authorization object on start of the web client. When the user is already logged on and has a token, the OAuth2 code from Ke

Hi,I would like to use qooxdoo events (button click, radiobox selection change etc.) to collect host data (grid/ texts) and then manipulate the same (calculate totals from detail amounts, change color coding based on host condition, etc.) on the front-end side. Is there any example to achieve this? Thanks,Anand Rajamani.------------------------------Anand Rajamani------------------------------

Hi Team,I am needing to find out the sequence that deployment sets are generated and processed when a collection spans across multiple releases in LMe. 1. We have a collection that has parts in the Base and Delta release. We want to promote and deploy that collection, so what is the sequence that the deployment sets are generated and or processed in?2. We have a collection that has parts that belong to 2 different application / releases. We want to promote and deploy that collection, so what is the sequence that the deployment sets are generated and or processed in?I have not found anything in the documentation and am looking for the rules related to the sequence that deployment sets are generated and processed in during the above scenarios.Thank you in advance.------------------------------Gary WoodcockKantion IT Pty LtdChirnside Park Vic AU------------------------------

Hello everyone, following on from the recent release of the new Rocket DevOps Portal 10.1.0, we would like to provide some further insight into some of the built-in compliance and reporting options available to you within the solution.Complex regulatory compliance and reporting obligations can be time-consuming to track and fulfill, which raises the risk of non-compliance and the importance of DevOps. Rocket® DevOps reduces the administrative burden on IT teams by streamlining compliance requirements through pre-packaged templates, permissions/controls, and automation capabilities for audit report generation and compliance analysis. Here, you can watch a short 7 minute video, and as always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! Thanks, Andy.------------------------------Andrew FinleySales EngineerRocket Internal - All BrandsIA US------------------------------

We all know that LMi is fantastic at being able to be configured to manage just about every situation you would require for your applications, right? At this point, you say, "Wait, Joe, what do you mean, just about??".  I'm so glad you asked! :)For those super-unique situations where you want to program LMi to do something special for you, we've created muliple "exit points" in our standard workflow. You can set up LMi to call your program automatically at any of these exit points to greatly increase the level of automation and decrease the manual effort required to fully accomplish your desired change. There are five exit points: ADD (adding a brand new object), DLT (deleting an object), CHK (checking out an object), PRM (promoting an object) and when you install an object on your target via Deployment. The first four are accessed via STRLMI, 11: Setup, then 13: User Exits. There is a lot of F1 help text here, and it is also covered in "User Exits" section in the LM(i) Setup and Admin

Organizations are always striving to be more responsive and agile, which includes making sure their IBM i environments can be managed similarly to others. Rocket DevOps v10 builds on the strengths of Rocket Aldon and enables CI/CD for IBM i+ environments, working collaboratively with other leading DevOps tools to speed development, testing and deployment.  Join us on March 15th to learn more. Chris White, principal product manager, will lead the session. Hi All,I am facing an error while trying to extract a deployment set using option 13 from the "Work with Deployment Sets" menu.Below is the sequence of steps I am following:STRACMS -> 6. Deployment menu -> 1. Work with deployment sets -> F6 to add a deployment set. From this screen, I select the three objects below:CLSTKFN  *FUNCTN     SQL CLSTKR    *MODULE      RPGLE CLSTKR    *SRVPGM       RPGLEHere CLSTKFN is an SQL user defined function that uses the CLSTKR service program. Then I set the auto-start step to 1 which submits a job Job 982648/ALDONCMS/ACMSATOJOB. This job completes without issues. But the status of the deployment set remains EXF which means failed. Though the ACMSATOJOB completes without errors, it submits another job Job 981824/ALDONCMS/ACMSEXTDVR which fails with end code 20.Below are the messages in the spool file:It says "Not authorized to function CLSTKFN in PAVT_TESTP". I don't understand this error. Why would there be an authorization failure. This UDF is

Security of your business critical systems is important. So for security of your host systems you've set up a multi-factor authentication using IBM z MFA or Rocket MFA.But how to configure your Rocket Modern Experience Web application to make use of this mechanism? In Rocket MX Web from versions 10.1.3 onward, the new web project templates contain scripts and example pages to make this easier than ever. This short video illustrates how easy it is to configure the use of MFA in your new web projects.#MFA #Multi-Factor #Authentication #Security #MXWeb #LegaSuite #RocketModernExperienceWebedition------------------------------Roger van ValenSenior manager, software engineeringRocket SoftwareDordrecht, The Netherlands------------------------------

Hi there,When I map/load a new application into LMi, I am used to use the combination of File Source (*OBJ and *SEARCH) and timestamp to find object pairing to the source. Until I got an experience, when I mapped/loaded an application where they used the same object name for different object type, for example OBJA with *PGM and *FILE, then I found many CMS2415 error (saying that the source member is used by an object) in my spoolfiles. And many objects are mapped wrongly. Like *PGM is mapped to source of PF and *FILE is mapped to source of RPGLE.If I analyze, I find that:1. LMi won't consider source member type when it looks for the source. As long the object name = source member name, then LMi will pair them.2. When LMi searchs the source for the second object name and it find the source is already paired by the first object name, then it will stop searching. The second source won't be paired.Because of this I have to fixed hundreds of unique objects name manually, times with object t
