Product Lifecycle Now Published
The official Product Lifecycle for Rocket API and Rocket Modern Experience is now published on docs.rocketsoftware.com under each product's latest version. Customers can plan upgrade roadmaps with clear visibility into long-term support windows and access to ongoing innovation.
Highlights of Version 10.7.0:
General Enhancements
Stronger Security and Compliance Posture
To help you stay aligned with current security standards and reduce exposure to known vulnerabilities, key components have been upgraded across products:
- Apache Tomcat upgraded to 11.0.26
- The Eclipse version of the MX & Automation Workbench has been upgraded to a more recent release
- The embedded Mozilla Rhino engine used in the Rocket API engine and MX & Automation Workbench has been upgraded from 1.7.14 to 1.9.1, mitigating several vulnerabilities (Note: With the Rhino upgrade, the engine now defaults to ES6, which changes how JavaScript types are handled. Customers should validate any existing custom JavaScript before upgrading)
- Additional mitigations have been applied to open-source components and libraries across the stack
Rocket Modern Experience
Enhanced AI Developer assistant with MCP tools & Copilot
The MX Web Builder now offers deeper support for AI-assisted development, so developers can rely on AI for more of their routine modernization work while staying in control of the outcome
- AI-visible problem markers: New MCP tools expose Workbench problem markers to AI chat sessions, so AI tools can see the same issues developers do. Where applicable, a quick-fix option lets AI tools resolve problems automatically.
- Fewer approval interruptions: The integrated MCP server is now automatically approved within the Workbench and the GitHub Copilot plugin, and read-only MCP tools no longer need approval when Copilot runs them. Other AI solutions still require the MCP server to be configured and approved in the Workbench.
- AI-driven project creation: MCP tools now offer a selection of web and theme templates for creating new MX Web projects using AI, giving every project a consistent, modern starting point.
- Better AI results layout: When the Workbench is installed with GitHub Copilot, AI skills in the project repository are automatically copied into the MX Web project directory, improving the quality of AI-generated layout changes.
Improved Screen data collection
Capturing and building screen pictures is faster and produces cleaner results.
- Faster picture import: Use Shift+Click to select multiple picture files at once, speeding up onboarding of large screen inventories.
- Cleaner host pictures: The Host Picture Builder now allows message subfile records only once per picture, improving the integrity of the pictures being created.
Better monitoring and diagnostics
Operations teams can find root causes faster and recover from backend issues automatically.
- Leaner support packages: Support packages no longer contain duplicate packages in each backend’s configuration folder, making them smaller and quicker to analyze.
- Clearer disconnect diagnosis: Session disconnect log messages now include additional details to help pinpoint the cause.
- Automatic backend recovery: The multicore engine now automatically restarts backend processes that become unresponsive, such as after a Linux SIGSTOP or a potential endless loop. Handling and timing are configurable in legasuite.ini, improving availability without manual intervention.
- Verbose logging: New verbose logging, enabled from the web browser console, helps diagnose actions that are blocked by causes such as a client lock.
UX improvements
End users get clearer feedback and better international text support.
- Busy-state cursor: The mouse pointer turns into an hourglass when the client is locked, clearly signalling that the system isn’t accepting input. This is configurable in index.html.
- Unicode support: Client-side JavaScript now handles Unicode text more reliably.
Rocket API
Health probes for non-containerized API engines
- API engines running outside of containers can now publish HTTP health probes. The HTTP Health communication manager exposes /started, /alive, and /ready endpoints for load balancers, orchestration platforms, and APM tooling, so engines can be monitored consistently regardless of how they’re deployed.
Microsoft JDBC Driver for SQL Server included
- Rocket API now ships with the Microsoft JDBC Driver for SQL Server for use with the API Engine Database Connector, removing a manual setup step and simplifying SQL Server integrations.
Support for custom JMS providers
The JMS communication manager now supports custom JMS providers in addition to IBM MQ Series, broadening messaging options for hybrid and cloud architectures.
- Flexible configuration: Specify the connection factory using a fully qualified class name, or use a BeanShell expression to pass connection strings, broker URLs, and credentials.
- Ready out of the box: Required JAR files for Apache ActiveMQ and Azure Service Bus are included by default.
Process Insights
Improved screen identification
- The workflow analyzer now creates IBM i screen definitions from the display file record formats discovered on specific screen states, ensuring screens are identified automatically during process discovery.
MX & Automation Hub
UX Improvements
Administrators get clearer visibility into licensing and session activity.
- Dedicated License Use page: View API engine license usage, expiration dates, and license details for each connector and host combination in one place.
- Web Client Sessions page: MX Web client session data now has its own home under Modern Experience > Web Client Sessions.
