Setting the Cluster Refresh Interval in iCluster Web

Auto-refresh has always kept iCluster Web pages current in the background. With this update, the refresh cadence can now be set by an administrator at the cluster level, from 5 seconds up to 5 minutes.

A single control on Administration → System values lets that change be made quickly, with the same setting then applied across the console for that cluster.

Why This Matters

Different situations need different refresh speed.

When a replication issue is being actively monitored, a faster interval helps status changes appear sooner. During routine periods, a slower cadence can reduce screen churn and background traffic while still keeping data current.

Previously, refresh cadence was fixed. Now it is configurable and persistent.

Where It Is Configured

Open Administration → System values.

In the page header, beside the reload icon, a settings icon opens the Refresh interval (sec) panel. The panel contains:

  • an interval dropdown
  • an Apply button

A value is selected, Apply is clicked, and the update is submitted. If the panel is dismissed without applying, no change is made.

Available Intervals

Six values are available (in seconds):

  • 5 (default)
  • 15
  • 30
  • 60
  • 120
  • 300

If no selection is changed, the default behavior remains in place.

When the update succeeds, a confirmation message is shown with the selected value. If the update fails, an error is shown and the saved value remains unchanged.

Cluster-Wide Scope

This setting is stored against the cluster, not the browser session.
That means:

  • the interval applies to all users of that cluster across auto-refreshing pages (including Monitor, Groups, Nodes, Event logs, Journals, Clusters, Visual monitor, and Analysis)
  • it persists across sign-outs and browser sessions
  • each cluster keeps its own independent interval.

Access and Audit

Because the refresh cadence affects the entire cluster and all users working in it, the control is shown in iCluster Web to users with the administrator role.

Every successful change is recorded in the audit trail as Update Refresh Interval under Administration, with the acting user and timestamp.

Summary

The refresh interval feature provides:

  • one place to configure cadence,
  • six selectable intervals from 5 to 300 seconds,
  • consistent behavior across auto-refreshing pages,
  • per-cluster persistence,
  • administrator-scoped control,
  • and full audit traceability.

Bottom Line

This is a small control with broad operational impact: one cluster-level setting, applied once, and reflected consistently across the iCluster Web experience.
