We are currently running Enterprise Server 2.3 Update 2. I was recently asked about file permissions on a /var/aslmfsem file (from a different site in our organization). Checking, I found my Microfocus install does not have this file, neither do I have a $COBDIR/adslmf directory mentioned in my searching for what this is. Searching the documentation for Enterprise Server hasn't given me much either. I am assuming that ASLMF is a licensing manager for a newer release of Enterprise Server or the other site is running another flavor of MF (Server Express ?). Could anyone educated me on where/when ASLMF came into existence?

If memory serves, ASLMF is used by the server products but not the development products. So it will be present on machines that have a server (runtime for application deployment, but no development environment) product installed. That typically means production systems, and possibly dedicated test or QA systems as well.
