This article explains how to correct a problem with autoinstalled terminals being not being deleted after disconnecting from Enterprise Server.

Problem:

If you quit the Attachmate Extra terminal emulator, thereby forcibly terminating an active session with Enterprise Server/MTO, Enterprise Server continues to show the disconnected client as an active autoinstalled terminal. Enterprise Server should delete the autoinstalled terminal definition.

Resolution:

Enterprise Server determines whether or not to delete an autoinstalled terminal definition based on the SIT ID Timeout and Input Timeout values. When using the Attachmate Extra terminal emulator, a value of zero for these settings results in the timeout never occuring, thereby leaving the terminal active indefinitely even when it has been disconnected.

To resolve the problem, change the values of the ID Timeout and Input Timeout settings as follows:

  1. From the Enterprise Server Administration page, click Details against the server requiring the change.
  2. Click ES Monitor & Control.
  3. From the Resources drop-down menu select By Group.
  4. Click SIT.
  5. Click Details for the required SIT.
  6. Change the values of ID Timeout and Input Timeout to non-zero values.
Note: You can also change these values dynamically by clicking ES Monitor & Control and then clicking the Control button. Changes made here are effective until the Enterprise Server is restarted.

For more information on the purpose of the ID Timeout and Input Timeout settings, see the context help for the Administration page.
