Hi,
I am not sure what I am missing here, however, after going through loading the Bank Demo project, going through the motions of copying the folder, adding the sources files, etc, which all went fine, there is a step to import the Bank Demo Files into Ent. Server. The location of the file is supposed to be C:\\MFETDUSER\\ES_Exports\\Bankdemo, however, I could not find the folder anywhere in the installation. Are these files "generated" by the Ent. Dev or shipped? It's worth mentioning that there is another step which breaks down where I right-click on the CBL file and as soon as I click on the COBOL link above the SQL link in the property page, I get a "Specified Cast is not Valid".
Thanks for all the help.
Cheers,

#EnterpriseDeveloperHi Bash,
May I ask you if you are using Enterprise Developer with Visual Studio or Eclipse IDE? also, I gather that you were using MFETDUSER.EXE as a sample correct? Were you using the Tutorial to follow on with setting up the environment?
thanks

#EnterpriseDeveloperHi Julia,
Thanks so much for your help. I am using Visual Studio 2010. The tutorial I am using is from the product documentation,. The exact link is hard to get since the URL does not show, however, the tutorial is under: Getting Started with Micro Focus Enterprise Developer - Team Edition for Visual Studio 2010.
The files which are missing from the original installation are mentioned in step 4 below. I am pasting the instructions directly from the documentation so you can navigate to that point in the docs.
Thanks again,
Bash
(Header) Importing the Bankdemo server
To import the definition of the Bankdemo logical server (LSER):
1. In the IDE, open the Server Explorer window.
If the window is not visible, click View > Server Explorer (or View > Other Windows > Server Explorer).
2. Right-click Micro Focus Servers and click Administration.
This opens the Enterprise Server Administration page in the IDE.
3. Click Import in the left upper corner of Enterprise Server Administration.
4. In the Selected source directory containing server data to restore field enter C:\\MFETDUSER\\ES_Exports\\Bankdemo

#EnterpriseDeveloperHi Bash,
Sorry you are having all the issues. We have spoted the issue with the documentation and we are fixing it for the GA version. Meanwhile you can use this link to get the correct information
partnerportal.microfocus.com/.../01-3.html
page down and you will see instructions on how to start the Bank demo app.
Let me know how it goes.

#EnterpriseDeveloperThis one is straightforward. New Project, Add Cobol (Add Link to), Right-click on any added COBOL file, choose Properties and click on COBOL (Above the SQL link on the left hand corner) and the message appears.

#EnterpriseDeveloperHi Bash,
I see that you ran into the same issue and error about setting up the Enterprise Server for the BankDemo project that I also encountered - that the Bankdemo server file was not in the C:\\MFETDUSER\\ES_Exports\\Bankdomo location in the Micro Focus Enterprise Developer Personal Edition software installation as indicated by the instructions.
However, I was able to get around this problem by going into the Enterprise Server "Administration" home page screen, click on the "IMPORT" option on the left-hand side of the home page, and was presented with the following 3 files the choose from in the "Recent Directories" field on that page as follows:
file:///C:\\Program Data\\Micro Focus\\Enterprise Developer\\MFDS\\IVP\\
file:///C:\\Program Data\\Micro Focus\\Enterprise Developer\\MFDS\\MSSIVP\\
file:///C:\\Program Data\\Micro Focus\\Enterprise Developer\\MFDS\\BANKDEMO\\
I selected the last file - C:\\Program Data\\Micro Focus\\Enterprise Developer\\MFDS\\BANKDEMO\\ - which was pasted into the "Selected source directory containing server data to restore" field on this screen, and then clicked the NEXT buttom at the bottom of the screen. There were a couple of promptings to click thru after that, but the Personal Edition software did seem to go ahead and setup the Server for the BANKDEMO project. I was able to follow the further instructions to setup the BANKDEMO server, start the server, connect to the Micro Focus site, and "run" the BANKDEMO application.
(Nevertheless, after all of this, it is still the case that when I continue to Right-click on a COBOL file, choose Properties and click on COBOL link, that I still get the "Specified Cast is not Valid" error message in my copy of the Enterprise Developer Personal Edition software. I suppose this is reflective of the fact that the documentation indicates that although we can compile and debug COBOL programs using the Personal Edition software, that we apparently cannot "run" the COBOL programs unless we use the Team Edition version of the Enterprise Developer software. Perhaps our license to Beta Test the Personal Edition version of the software allows us to at least be able to "run" COBOL applications, for I do not see how we can adequately test the Personal Edition version of the software if we cannot at least "run" the COBOL programs and projects that we build using the Personal Edition version of the software.)
I hope this helps - I was not able to past a screen print of the Enterprise Server "Administration" home page showing the above files to this email facility.
Thanks

#EnterpriseDeveloperHi Bash,
Just wanted to let you know that we have now released the GA version of Enterprise Developer Personal Edition. In this new version we have corrected the instructions for the demo in the tutorial and the "cast not found" has been fixed.
In order to install the new version you will need to uninstall the beta version manually and proceed to install the GA version.
Thank you so much for your input and looking forward to seeing you installing EDPE 2.1.
