I am getting a message from ESMAC CASMG9999E DU004, /var/mfcobol/es/DCSA/casdumpa.rec. What does this mean?

Problem:

I am getting the following message from ESMAC. Why is this happening?

CASMG9999E DU004, /var/mfcobol/es/DCSA/casdumpa.rec

Resolution:

This is happening because ESMAC cannot find the message files (dfhmsg & dfhmsg.idx) and is unable to find the actual text for message msgcode (or DU0004 in the example), so it displays instead a generic message CASMG9999E that just shows the message code and the parameters for it (…/casdumpa.rec in the example).

The actual message in the example should have been:

CASDU0004I Switched diagnostic output to %1$s# where %1$s is replaced by .../casdumpa.rec.

The message itself is informational and it means that the switch of the diagnostics dataset was successful.
