Resolution:
1. If restricted access to MFDS is enabled, then a username that is no longer than 8 characters must be used when starting Enterprise Server. Therefore, "schemaadmin" cannot be used. For all the default accounts in MFDS, use the "modify" account (which has "modify" as its password when the product is installed), or create a new account with suitable permissions.
2. If using the "Use custom server ID certificate" option, make sure that all the paths and passphrases have the correct values (there is no scope for error). Also, the "MF_ROOT_CERT" environment variable needs to be set to the path of the root certificate file, e.g. "MF_ROOT_CERT=c:\\mycerts\\CARootcert.pem". This environment variable needs to be set for both the MFDS process and for any processes attempting to connect to it, e.g casstart/casstop. If MFDS is running as a service then this variable needs to be set as a system environment variable and the MFDS service must be restarted to pick it up.
3. If not using the "Use custom server ID certificate" option, then first check that the default "DemoCA" certificate directory has been created by the product install.
NOTE: If a firewall is present, check that the port used for the SSL connection to MFDS is open (86, the usual default, is not the one that will be used). A fixed port can be specified using the "Secure Port" MFDS configuration option.
