Where and how do I specify the startup transaction for a CICS region when coming in through a TN3270 terminal emulator?

Hi Bruce,

I believe you can check/set this via ESCWA (Enterprise Server Common Web Administration) >Servers > <your region> > CICS  > SIT > Look at the SIT entries such as “DEMOSIT” (whichever one you use at region start) and in that SIT look for parameter “Initial Tran ID” (description is “The ID of an initial transaction that runs on every terminal when it logs on to the region.”), On my region I see that has a value of “CESN” which is used for sign on.  Does that help to answer your question?

Regards,
Kim

are you saying that I can get to the SIT from ESCWA or would I be looking at a file in a windows folder?

I don’t see SIT as an option in the dropdown list under CICS in the Native tab of the ESCWA page

You should be able to see the SIT via ESCWA. On my example region I navigate to: http://localhost:10086 > Expand Directory Servers > Expand Default > Click the region (that is started) >  On the menu that shows up on the top click the downwards pointing triangle icon next to CICS > In the dropdown menu look for the “Resources” entry and then click “By Group”, now you should see the SIT and review the configuration that I believe you are looking for from there.
