"ClassFactory cannot supply requested class" error message in MS products after installing MFE Update

Problem:

After installing an Mainframe Express Update on Windows 7 environment, the customer started receiving error messages with the Microsoft products such as:

"ClassFactory cannot supply requested class"

Resolution:

This error message is connected with the Windows Common Controls files comctl32.ocx and mscomctl.ocx.

You should check if these files are present in System32 folder (or SysWOW32 in W64) and if they are correctly registered. Here are two links to Microsoft articles explaining how to register these files:
