In our Bankdemo application so far we have seen how an automatic build has taken place whenever we have added new COBOL files.
This automatic build happens by default. (This can be turned off on the Project menu).
You will see various build methods, how compilation errors are handled and what build sequence is used.
When a build takes place a number of things happen:
1. If a copy file has changed, it will start a series of events to rebuild the right environment
2. Any program affected by that copy file change will be recompiled
3. Any program affected by any other copy file changes will be recompiled
4. Any program which failed to compile last time will be recompiled
5. Any program which has changed since the last build will be recompiled
6. Any program which clean compiled last build and is not affected by copy file changes will NOT be recompiled.
Enterprise Developer Personal Edition versus Team Edition
In the case of the Enterprise Developer Personal Edition, no executable files are created. You will need the Enterprise Developer Team Edition product to achieve this.
