This article explains why the "MFDS child process starting..." is pending for a while, and Enterprise Server returns to stopped state.
Problem:
The Window titled "MFDS child process starting..." is pending for a while. No further message nor an Enterprise Server Console Daemon appears. The Diagnostics Enterprise Server Console is empty, and a Console.log cannot be found. Finally the Status Log will contain: MDS2000E Admin failed to start server process, error -1. One cause is an invalid or not existing path name in the System Directory field. Somebody specified a directory, which does not exist. What is happening?
