Dennis Vorhees has suggested the following:

ome dashboards seem to be designed to be starting points, and other dashboards seem to be designed to be a node in the drilldown from other dashboards.

When a user selects a dashboard from the dropdown, the list of available dashboards should only include the starting point dashboards, otherwise the selected dashboard may not display the intended data.  Example:  I design charts for a specific tag level and have to refence a specific tag during the design, but the use of the chart is expected to have a tag selected and passed from a different dashboard.  If this child dashboard is selected as the starting point, it may not display the data from the desired tag.
