Problem
This article explains how to migrate Data Express Client XDB knowledge base from one Windows system to another one.
It is valid for Data Express for Distributed systems only.
Resolution
In order to install Data Express and migrate the data from one Windows system to another one follow the steps below:
Data Express Windows Client
- Install Data Express Client for Distributed Systems on the new Windows system. You can install the software on a drive different than C: but keep in mind Data Express XDB KB must be installed in the folder C:\\ProgramData\\Micro Focus\\Data Express 4.0\\. This is done by default during the installation.
- Install BDE product on the new Windows system.
- Stop the Micro Focus XDB Server for DX 4.0 service on the new Windows system.
- Close all Data Express modules and stop the Micro Focus XDB Server for DX 4.0 service on the old Windows system.
- Copy the folder MFSQL located in C:\\ProgramData\\Micro Focus\\Data Express 4.0\\ on the old machine and replace the same folder located in C:\\ProgramData\\Micro Focus\\Data Express 4.0\\ on the new machine. Keep the old MFSQL folder during the test period.
- Apply the Data Express last Update and test the product.
ODBC/Oracle Extension customized files
- If you have created or customized masking programs copy them into the corresponding folders on the new machine.
- If you have created new .DLL libraries located in the ODBC and Oracle folders copy them into the corresponding folders on the new machine.
- If you have created pre/post scripts copy them from the Data Express config folders into the corresponding folders on the new machine.
- If you have created .RC files copy them into the corresponding folders on the new machine.
