Problem:

The DFCONV utility, also known as the Data File Converter, converts data files. The utility provides a batch and called program interface to enable conversion of file formats, organizations and data formats and reorganization of indexed files using data file conversion profiles. It was previously supplied in both the Developer and Server versions of our product.
Owing to a packaging error, it has not been included in Enterprise Server 2.1 resulting in RTS 173 abends like this...

Load error : file 'DFCONVFILE'
error code: 173, pc=0, call=1, seg=0
173     Called program file not found in drive/directory

The error has been remedied and it will be included in future releases.

Resolution:

If you have need to use DFCONV in an Enterprise Server 2.1 installation and you also have Enterprise Developer 2.1 installed, you can copy the following files across

bin\\dfconv.dll
bin\\dfconv.exe
bin\\DFUTIL.dll
bin\\dfutil2.dll
they cannot be copied from earlier product releases, such as Enterprise Developer 2.0 or Studio Enterprise Edition. Doing so will cause unexpected errors and abends.


If you do not have an Enterprise Developer 2.1 installation you should contact Supportline and ask them to send you the required files.
