Problem: When installing Enterprise Developer for Eclipse 2.2 on the machine that has JRE 1.8
installed, ED for Eclipse 2.2 displays the following error message.

"This application requires 32-bit Oracle java 1.6 or later".

When using java version of 1.6/1.7 then it works correctly.

Resolution:

Java 1.6,1.7 are the supported java versions for the ED for Eclipse 2.2 product. Customer need to upgrade to ED for Eclipse 2.2 Update 1 for JRE 1.8 compatibility.
