Problem:

If MFDS is restarted, any previously registered fileshare server is no longer registered in MFDS so it isn't possible to establish any (new) connections to the fileshare server.

Resolution:

In order to preserve the registration of a fileshare server in MFDS when MFDS is stopped and started, it is necessary to set the following MFDS option (from the ES Admin Client):

In the left hand pane choose:
Configure -> Options -> General tab

Then select and check/tick the following option:
        Save legacy Micro Focus servers:

Once the above option is checked and applied, when MFDS is restarted any previously registered fileshare server will continue to be registered in MFDS.

This means that as long as the fileshare server remains up and running, not only will any existing process (e.g. casmgr and cassi) maintain their connection to the fileshare serever but any new process (e.g. a new batch initiator process) can establish a connection to the exising fileshare server.  In addition the FSVIEW utility will be able to connect to the fileshare server.
