This article addresses migration of the GLOBAL.DEF file in Revolve EE 7.007.0016 for project/product settings using RVProject.RVX.
Problem:
The new WrapPack (WebSync) 7 now implements RVProject.RVX to apply the settings for the Product and Project level. If there are any updates that have been made to the GLOBAL.DEF, then a migration of the file is necessary for those settings to be implemented and applied to the Product.
Resolution:
If there is a current GLOBAL.DEF file that is used in the BIN directory with anything beyond the normal settings used, then a migration of the GLOBAL.DEF will be necessary. Go to a Command Prompt, mapping to the BIN directory, where the GLOBAL.DEF is by default (if it is in a different directory, then map to that directory). While in the BIN directory (if the GLOBAL.DEF is there), type the following at the command prompt:
C:\\program files\\micro focus\\Revolve 7.0\\Bin>>RVMigrate global.def
A set of panels will come up to guide the administrator through this migration. This is demonstrated in the attached document with the screen shots. Also attached is a copy of an RVProject.RVX file that shows an XML format can be edited outside of the migration process. If this is edited, it is wise to send the RVProject.RVX with any incidents that occur after the migration and editing of the file.
