This article describes how to change the the default repository location for Micro Focus Directory Server (MFDS) also Enterprise Server Administration (ES Admin) to make your fail over server to share the same directory as your main server.
Problem:
Need instructions for changing the default repository location for MFDS and ES Admin and specify that the fail over server shares the same directory as the main server.
Resolution:
Main Server is up:
-
Click Configuration > Options to change the default repository location to a shared disk, for example, /shareddir/mfds
Note: See article 7813 for more information.
-
Export the mfds repository of the main server to a backup location. This is better done when all the servers are in Stopped status:
-
Stop the main server's mfds, including shut down of the Directory Server and any associated enterprise servers, at a command prompt by entering:
mfds [-p port-number] -s 2 [username password]
Main Server is down and Fail Over server is up:
- Click Configuration > Options to change the repository location to the same directory on the shared disk as the main server. For example: /shareddir/mfds
-
Restore the backup as follows:
- Although a backup of the main server should be done every time any important information has been added or changed, it isn't necessary to restore it when the fail over server is up (unless data has been corrupted) because after performing this configuration they share the same repository.
- Only servers that have the exact same version can share the repository location. A later version of Enterprise Server Administration should be able to read the repository from an older version, but vice versa is not true.
