Problem:

We receive an error message when attempting to run HyperCode Convertor in Modernization Workbench. The error message returned states:

ORA 12541 TNS: No Listener.

This message occurs despite successfully opening the Workspace by connecting to the Oracle database. Why is this?

Resolution:

HyperCode Convertor is being blocked by a firewall or internet protection program and can not access the database. An example of this would be Norton Internet Security. This can be temporarily disabled to allow the Convertor to run. Another option would be to allow an exception for the Modernization Workbench software and/or Hypercode Convertor. Port 1521 can also be opened on the firewall or security software to allow for the connection.
