Problem:
I noticed a CICS debug screen after an abend. What is this used for?
Resolution:
MFE CICS has a debug screen that allows one to gather abend information after an error or abend in a CICS transaction. It can also place one into the failing program if INT code was used. To enable this processing, use the flag under Project>Project Settings, CICS tab, General tab, Exception pop-up conditions, set option to ALL.
With this set and INT code in use, when an abend happens one will see a pop-up. Press F2 (Debug). A message is issued about Dfheapup not being debuggable. Click OK and press F11 (Step). You are placed into the failing program.
Please note that the Animator is no longer active, so using its action functions will not produce expected results, but one can view storage, source, CICS abend information, EIBRESP, Commarea and via the debug screens displayed the CICS TRT, Call Stack and CICS region screen.
