Problem:

I am getting different results with the TN3270 session under Mainframe Express v3.0 for my IMS application. The terminal emulator I have is Attachmate's Extra!

Resolution:

Mainframe Express documents support for several 3270 terminal emulators.

  First, one must set a a gui flag for a TN3270 emulator (IMS tab>IMS System, right click to select Properties, select TM/MFS more, in the area 'TN3270 terminal emulator' select 'Enable for MFS screen output' and ensure the port number is correct).

Next, go to the MFE\\MFIMS\\SOURCE directory and copy the MFIMS.INI to MFUSER\\CONFIG after uncommenting the desired terminal emulator and ensuring the command line is correct. In this case, we had to point to the EDP file using a non-spacey name because the terminal emulator was not liking the use of a long and spacey directory name (instead of c:\\program files, it worked using

c:\\progra~1).
