Problem:
MFA client is unable to establish a connection to the MFA server. Both the client and server are new installations. The server is up and running, no error messages in the log. The client information is correctly configured for node, port, catalog search criteria, userid and password. Customer can telnet to the MFA port successfully. Port is not blocked by the firewall.
Resolution:
A wireshark (www.wireshark.org) protocol trace revealed no requests were being sent from the client machine. The MFE installation was corrupted, and the MFA client was not functioning correctly. Reinstalling MFE resolved the issue.
