Problem:

A firewall is blocking contact between the Modernization Workbench client and the DB2 database.

Resolution:

These ports will need to be opened to use Modernization Workbench successfully with a firewall:

MW Licensing uses UDP port 5093.

DB2 uses port 446 if the DB2 installation is over OS/390 or z/OS; port 50000 if running Windows/Linux/Unix, per http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/techarticle/0301chong/0301chong2.html.
