Problem:

I am trying to install Studio Enterprise Edition 6.0 and get the error message that the Prerequisite Visual Studio 2008 SP1 is required.

After downloading and running the install file for the Visual Studio 2008 Integrated Shell SP1 at:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=16480

I still get the same error about the prerequisite Visual Studio 2008 sp1 not being installed.  What is going on?

Resolution:

After downloading and running the install package for Visual Studio 2008 Shell SP1 from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=16480
it only unzips the files into a folder called "C:\\VS 2008 Shell Redist\\Integrated Mode" onto your hard drive.

You still have to execute the vs.ide.enu.exe file in that folder (see below) in order to install Visual Studio 2008 Shell SP1.

C:\\VS 2008 Shell Redist\\Integrated Mode

You will also have to install the Windows SDK as documented in the Studio Enterprise Edition 6.0 docs.  You will then be able to install Studio Enterprise Edition 6.0 on your computer without getting the error message.
