Our client is looking to migrate their mainframe workload to an AIX Server. They currently do their mainframe development on Server Express on AIX and use Korn scripts to simulate JCL. There is no CICS testing done on SX, that is done on the current mainframe. They are looking for a migration path that will allow them to fully exploit ED on AIX as a development platform.
Is it better to install ED on Windows desktop (as most of the documentation suggests) or is better to install on AIX?
Is there some documentation for installing, configuring ED on AIX? I believe an X-Windows client is required. How is that configured?
Thanks,
Tom
#CICS#EnterpriseDeveloper#aixHi Tom,
Sorry for the late response to this question. Support for AIX is provided with an Enterprise Developer license. When you get an evaluation or full version of the product you will have access to a AIX installable component. This includes the development tools and support for developing and unit testing applications on the AIX environment.
As a development IDE we would recommend that that you use the Enterprise Developer Eclipse client for Windows. This will allow you to use the Eclipse IDE and then remotely develop on the AIX environment. The remote development capability utilisies the AIX installable components I mentioned above.
Installation instructions for the AIX Enterpririse Developer components are included in the Getting started guide for Enterprise Developer and also the release notes.
Does this answer your question?
