Problem:

N512 error from sql wizard.

Resolution:

Recommendation is to change the protocol to TCP/IP.

Go to MFE Options > SQL

      change the protocol to TCP/IP from Win32Local,

      change the IPAddress to 127.0.0.1 (which is always your machine)

       change the port to 8898.

This seems to be a Win32Local protocol problem that occurs on WIN95 and WIN98 machines.
