Problem:

After the upgrade to APS 5.0, the old style (Pre version 2.1) screen painter was not the default. Is there a way to bring that back?

Resolution:

The profile variable is APXCUA and the default value in a new install will be YES. If the value is set to NO in your ISPF profile, the old screen painter will be used when you edit a screen. I still recommend you look at the default painter because it is better but now you can set up either way. You can test this and then put in the change to your startup after you test it. From an APS menu type TSO VCHG APXCUA. When prompted for a new value put in NO. Edit a screen and you should see the old editor format. The startup value is set in the GENPANEL(APS5000) member. You should see a setting for APXCUA set to YES in that module so if you can change that value and have the end-users to a RESET to pick up the new value.
