Problem:

In the docs about compression functions, but there is not a lot about what it would do for Revolve projects.

is compression used for only what?

saving space?

do projects work slower or faster when compressed?

do builds or rebuilds take longer or shorter when compression is used?

just what would it help?  

Resolution:

These are administrator-only functions for use with shared databases. They were used to compact the shared databases. They are not currently recommended for use since disk space is cheaper.
